Nillumbik Shire Council Office Extension and Upgrade

This project involved an upgrade of existing Council Chambers and an office extension to accommodate 235 personnel. The open plan design represents a modern working environment with centralised hub spaces and multipurpose meeting spaces which encourage staff integration and communication forums.
The staged construction commenced in January 2010 and was completed over five phases, the last finishing in end of 2011. Through working with Council representatives staging of the project allowed for staff accommodation on site throughout the entire project with minimal disruption. This staging also allowed for continued public access for the entirety of the project, with council meetings only being held off site whilst the chambers where renovated.
New building methodologies included: A spray on system in lieu of the traditional ceiling treatment of the lower ground ceiling which was originally a car park. The objective was to increase volume and allow for suspended services to accommodate for flexible workspaces.
