Mildura Prevention and Recovery Care Services (PARCS)
Client: Department of Health
The Mildura PARCS proposes to fill a gap for sub acute services by providing a 10 bed facility, that offers:
- 5 beds for short stays (up to 28 days) for patients who require a ‘step up’ from services provided in the community in a residential facility or a ‘step down’ period of support recovery before returning to their usual place of residence after an inpatient stay – not currently available in this catchment; and
- 3 beds for patients who require a longer period (3-6 months) of clinical support and stabilisation and psycho-social rehabilitation before returning to the community.
The facility is designed to be very ‘home-like’ for therapeutic reasons and to be in tune with neighbourhood character.
With wide eaves and sheltered external activity spaces, the building responds well to harsh extremes of climate and provides excellent ESD performance.
