Spowers’ brief was to design a new ambulance response facility, within a regional community setting, on a 4,500sqm block. The modern design provides overnight facilities for emergency staff, more efficient management of response vehicles and additional car parking on the site.
Spowers worked to overcome site constraints caused by the remote site location and issues surrounding existing heritage zoning.
Additionally, the design team collaborated with Ambulance Victoria to help inform and educate the surrounding community about the benefits of the new facilities.
A new 24-hour, state-of-the-art ambulance branch to serve the growing Wallan community enables paramedics to better respond to critical medical emergencies in Melbourne’s rapidly growing outer north. The new ambulance branch features a three bay ambulance garage, delivery and storage facilities, manager’s office, training facilities, rest and recline areas and a full kitchen for staff use.
