As the new headquarters to the Catholic precinct, Spowers were engaged to redevelop 486 Albert Street Melbourne. The new headquarters were to accommodate various Catholic groups and co-locate them for efficiency and better collaboration. Studies were undertaken on the existing building with to determine best workplace strategies with respect to the way they work, natural light, internal communication, sensitivity and privacy, external access and security.
In addition to the staff accommodation, a reception floor was also developed for external visitors, meeting, conferences and functions, and staff lunch facilities. An external balcony was redesign to provide an alternative breakout space adjacent to the staff lunchroom.
A light and soft palette was developed for this project with the use of light timbers, indoor planting and soft textures.
