			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This new learning Hub features environmental design principles that are being used as educational  tools for the students within the Trade School.</p>
<p>A fully collaborative approach was taken amongst all the consultants, the major suppliers and the Institute. This project will form the basis for future similar initiatives within the Box Hill campus.</p>
<p>Solar and wind energy, and appropriating monitoring and electronic equipment and devices, are used as part of the curriculum within the working classroom.</p>
<p>ESD Initiatives include a combination of solar energy and wind turbine generated power, collection of rainwater for toilet flushing and exposed fabric ductwork.</p>

<p>Through considerable user workshops &amp; consultations the design outcomes represent current industry practice in the convergence of all the disciplines taught within the school. Work integrated learning and a strong exposure of the research components within the school underpin the pedagogical aims and aspirations. Multi purpose collaborative learning spaces are supported by highly interactive visual and audio technology.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Spowers are currently designing the second academic building on the Ho Chi Minh City RMIT Vietnam Campus. Comprising 10,000sqm of specialist teaching, cross discipline learning environments and staff accommodation over four floors the building also creates a much needed entry gesture for the campus. </p>
<p>The building is organized around a central, vertically connected learning axis – the “academic heart of the building” – which is then book-ended by breezeways and specialist learning spaces. </p>
<p>A key component within this building is the proportion and variety of informal learning spaces located throughout the building and the flexibility of the structured learning environments.</p>
<p>Due for completion end 2010.</p>

<p>The college has been designed around a compact learning environment with flexible and casual spaces and adaptable intelligent learning technologies, encouraging staff and student integration. </p>
<p>Four learning commons orbit a central courtyard. Other spaces include resources areas, a cafeteria, technology and industry areas, lounges and staff areas.  Flexible campus-like interiors are united under a single umbrella of learning creating a learning “mall” for exchange of ideas. The facility incorporates a wide variety of state-of-the-art technical systems and ESD principles such as a compact building shape; strategic fenestration and high values of insulation; high levels of daylighting to maximise comfort and learning outcomes and a ground-air conduct air supply system for high comfort during hot and cold conditions.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The project involved a consolidation of a school that teaches Photography, animation, multimedia, games, creative writing, film &#038; television and research over a very short time frame. Housed over four floors within an existing RMIT leased building on the city campus the outcome established a clear identity and current best-practise facilities for the school through photography studios, teaching and exhibition spaces, research studios and administration offices. Integrating and embedding the technology within the pedagogy of the school was critical to the future success of the school.</p>
<p>The project was completed in readiness for the start of semester 2008 with a Total Project Cost of $5m.<br />

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The primary design objectives of the Williamstown High School, Bayview Campus (WHS) development is to provide new and positive identity to the school by improving the amenity of the student facility.</p>
<p>Stage one is now complete, which incorporates two southern buildings dedicated to classroom-type learning activities.  Stage two comprises a northern building complex which accommodates the gymnasium, canteen and further amenities relating to the outdoor sporting facilities.  The new Williamstown High School development creates a model school for environmental education.</p>
<p>It was awarded the Award for Environmentally Sustainable Design in the 2008 Interior Design Awards as well as Best Overall School Design Award and the Best Secondary School &#8211; New or Redeveloped Award at the 2007 School Design Awards.</p>
