As a building type the Banyule Materials Recovery Facility is a direct product of the green concerns of our recent times. It is an acoustically sealed concrete box, built to house machinery that will sort through commingled kerbside waste.
Appended to this box is a new educational facility for the Eco Waste Centre. Here school children learn about waste minimisation and recycling through interactive exhibitions and first hand experience of the sorting process.
